Scanner Angel is a brilliant concept that has been developed by Nick Smith, a professional electronics engineer who lives on the island of Guernsey located in the English Channel between the United Kingdom and France.
Being an animal owner and an avid animal lover, Nick was very concerned about the numbers of animals that were lost or stolen and he set his sights on designing a system to help these missing pets find their way home more quickly.
Over the last ten to fifteen years, many countries all over the world have introduced compulsory micro-chipping as a way to permanently identify companion animals so that their owners could be tracked down easily but because of the thousands of different databases around the world, the system isn't ideal.
Generally, the micro-chipping system does work quite well but, Nick could see that there was still room for some improvement and as a result of this, the Halo Scanner and Scanner Angel were born.
On the following pages, you will see how these two distinct parts work together to help speed up the process of pets and their owners being reunited.
As the system has been working flawlessly in the United Kingdom and several parts of Europe it's now time for Australia to jump on the bandwagon as well !
